One Step Forward · OSF01: Racial Unity with Eric Saunders
3 Takeways:
- Listen More. We need to listen more than we need to talk. Listen to our brothers and sisters in pain. Engage in conversations and ask questions. We minimize the conversation when we don’t ask and listen. We need to have more difficult conversations so that we can move forward and heal.
- Racial Reconciliation versus Racial Justice. There is a difference between racial justice and racial reconciliation. We all want racial reconciliation. It’s a beautiful thing. But most often times, we want to skip the justice portion. We can’t have true reconciliation without justice. Forgiveness doesn’t mean that we ignore consequences for past and present actions. God is a God of justice and making things right. We need to advocate for justice as well.
- Read. The best way to move forward in building racial unity is to read. When you read then you learn. When you learn then you can make different choices and actions. That’s when we can make changes in our society and community. Read books with different perspectives on racial unity. Below are some suggestions from Pastor Eric.
