3 Take Aways:
- Get Educated. The best way to love and build bridges is to learn about others. We go to school to learn math, English and history. We even go to school to learn languages. We need to go to school to learn about cultures and diversity. We need to learn more about our black brothers and sisters. You can do this by reading news articles, watching movies (Selma, Just Mercy) or connecting with your black friends. It means we need to take a proactive step in learning and growing. That’s the first step to love.
- Church Has A Big Role. The Church needs to come together and stand up for those who don’t have a voice. We need to rally against sin. We need to spread hope and love for all people especially for our black community who has experienced injustice and racism. It’s a matter of spreading hope and love.
- The heart of man needs to be changed. It’s important to not just change laws and have equitable policies, we also need to change the hearts of men and women. We need all people to have sympathy, empathy and compassion. We need to open our eyes and hearts to see the reality of the injustice, unfairness and inequality. We need to help people see that this isn’t a political or social issue. It’s a matter of the heart. It’s about loving and treating every person with dignity and equality.
